Home, home on the raaaaaange. I can hardly express how glad I am to be here. *snuggles chair*
I'm here in my ratty old La-Z-Boy, with The Pig on my lap (he's following me around like a puppy, poor honey. He thinks I'm going to leave him again.), watching Firefly and debating whether I want to start watching soaps again after having weaned off them for the past week.
I slept in my own bed and used my own bathroom, and I'm back in my usual environment, with the usual relative quiet. It's really nice to be home again. The only downside is that I miss my girls and I miss wireless internet. *sigh* The former more, of course. But the latter a lot too. It takes for-fucking-EVER for things to download! I had forgotten just how slow! And then there's the whole "can't connect when there's a problem with the phone" thing, and we have problems with the phone whenever it rains hard, I swear.
PLUS there's the additional, "Can't use the phone when someone's online" thing, which is a pain when my parents are getting ready to go on a trip themselves. *sigh*

Just because I have already written off LJ/6A doesn't mean all of my friends have. For those of you who continue to struggle to save fandom's place on LJ,
synecdochic has some excellent advice on how to actually be heard. As amusing as the cat macros and singing "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" are, they really aren't productive.

So... Karl Rove has done all the possible damage he can, and now he's leaving thede facto presidency White House. Is this where I cry? 'Cause... nuh uh.

Dude! I haven't watched my soaps in a week, and it looks/feels more like a YEAR! Jeebus! I had forgotten how fast the craziness moves in Soap Land. People have like, been born and died, married and divorced, gotten locked in vaults or something. I don't fucking know, but eiyee! It seems like people have aged a lot, and someone who was newly pregnant last week is now showing.
It's like a Hell dimension -- time moves so weirdly there! It's full of demons and weirdos who like to torture you! And demon spawn brought about by mystical pregnancy!
~
Man am I tired. *yawn* I still haven't caught up on my friends' list, or had time to get any real work done. I'm gonna sleep the day away tomorrow, so I may not make a post then, either. Then Wednesday, I have treatment, and I'm always sleepy after that, so it may be DAYS before you see me again! *hugs you* I miss you! I miss being able to string thoughts together in a semi-coherent fashion. I miss Open_on_Sunday -- even if I don't get around to posting drabbles this week, I have to make time to comment!
1.) Fluff-a-thon fic - due Sept. 2
2.) Otherworld (original, sequel to THE VEIL)
3.) City of Night
4.) Bargaining Fixer
There are other ficathons coming up, and another novel desperately overdue, but let's just focus on those for now.
Which makes me even more tired. *sigh*
I think that's a sign that it's time for bed. 'Night!

Dial-up? Oh, honey. I'm so sorry. I've been lucky enough to have high speed internet pretty much since it was available. I don't know how I'd cope with dial-up.
But, again. Welcome home. :)
Yes, Dial up is the saddest of the sad things in my technological life. It seems so much slower now that I've seen how green the grass is on the other side. *sigh* Alas, I live in the middle of nowhere, and there's no competition out here for reliable service yet, so it's just not affordable. But I forbear with the dream that someday, I will be able to download an album in less than three days, and that I can read my Friends' List, icons and all, within an hour or so, and watch streaming video like all the cool kids. *SIGH*
Thank you for the welcome. Like I said, I'm really glad to be back! *hugs you*
Kitty! So cute. I'll have to post pictures of my babies one of these days.
Also, I made a post just for you earlier, but I figure you're swamped with getting caught up on f-lists and such. I just want to know if there's a way we can chat for a bit, because I have an idea I think (well, hope) you might like. If you're comfortable emailing me your phone number, I'd be happy to call. If not, I totally understand and we can figure something else out.
Hee. I love your icon. Colbert is the shite. :D
And they call both parties on their BS, which is nice. I'm a born and raised Democrat, but there's plenty of asshattery on our side of the fence, as well. ;)
Guess he figures he can do more damage else where.
