Gmail is very good at weeding out the spam, so I haven't got a good opening line in a while. But one made it through today, and here's the porny wisdom it had to impart:

Liberty Of The screw flag Press government In bury The United States The American people acquiesces slowly, or print frequently does less idea not acquiesce, in what is cheat beneficial to it I ship am not, forsaken however, inclined to exaggerate the sensuous top example which America furnishes.

Um... okay!

Hey! Did you know fear of clowns is an actual phobia! Coulrophobia! Actually I shouldn't be surprised. I know an awful lot of people who are terrified by clowns.

I've being seeing these weird ratings for fic lately, like FRAO, FRC and FRT, and I had no freaking idea what the hell they stood for. I JUST found out that they stand for "Fan (or Fic, apparently) Rated... Adults Only, Children, Teen" etc.

Um, what is the point of this? Do people not understand old-fashioned ratings like PG, R, NC-17 and the like? Or the European versions thereof? It seems like change just for change sake, and we all know how I feel about that. Does anybody know where this convention came from and why?

I got the sign up post for the first a.k.a. Angel ficathon Fan Festival ready today! I decided not to call it simply a fic celebration or ficathon, because I would LOVE to see art celebrating Angel, and when the B/A(us) fest happens, I'd like art there too! Icons count!

Actually yes. A few years ago some sites got hit with a C&D by the MPAA which has copyrighted its movie ratings system. As a result fans started the fan rating system. Personally I kind of prefer the fan system since I think that allows authors to better set the age level they feel the fic is accessible to, and it helps international writers who are baffled by the U.S. system since it often seems to have no rhyme or reason and is biased towards violene and against sex.

Also, I just had to use this icon for your post.
HAHAHHA! Great icon! I don't have any clown ones.

Do you have Coulrophobia?

Ah, I see. Well, that makes sense, then, about the rating system. I still use the old one because... well, because I'm a lazy creature of habit who hates change, and if the MPAA wants to sue me, they can feel free. I faced 20th Century Fox, so the MPAA doesn't scare me. ;)
Yes, the ultimate Winchester nightmare :D

I don't, though I dislike them and find them creepy. However it's more distaste I think than fear. On the other hand if I found a clown creeping around my apartment in the dark I probably would be more freaked out than if it was a non-clown attired person. Hm.

If I have to label a fic rec that doesn't include a rating I use Adult, Teen and All just because it saves people being confused by the abbreviations (plus it adds wiggle room) :>

Oh, I definitely feel the same. Equally so with mannequins, ventriloquist dummies, and dolls. *G* I had terrible nightmares for years about the commercial for the movie "Magic."
I don't really remember the ads for the film but I do remember reading the book. Creepy story. Starred Anthony Hopkins, didn't it? Although I did see the film at one point and think I still found the book creepier.
God, I can't remember anything about the movie but the commercials with that DUMMY. I don't think I've ever even seen it, it left such a terrifying impression!

I wonder what an irrational fear of ventriloquist dummies is called.
Automatonophobia apparently.
Ah! I KNEW it had to be a pathology. ;)
