The Heat of Passion (John Rambo/Sarah Miller) Rated R

Title: The Heat of Passion
By Tami (tabrandt @ hotmail.com)
Disclaimer: The characters from Rambo are owned by David Morrell, Tri-Star Pictures, Carolco Pictures and LionsGate Entertainment. This story is not meant to infringe upon anyone's rights, only to entertain.
BETA: Myself, [info]lexa4227, [info]mylifewithin
Rating: R for Language
Pairing – John Rambo/Sarah Miller
Timeline – Rambo IV, but mention First Blood Part I, II and Rambo III
Summary - Rambo's POV as he and Sarah ran from the sadistic Burmese militants.
Feedback – It would be appreciated. My plot bunny has been lagging lately.
Author's Note 1 - I'm still deeply entrenched in the Spangel(us) fandom, but my muse felt she needed a change of pace and wrote this ficlet. I'm NOT going into the Rambo fandom, just dabbling.
Author's Note 2 - Though, I felt I have explained things from the first three movies from Rambo's POV, you will likely have a better understanding of his thoughts if you have seen First Blood Part I, First Blood Part II, Rambo III and Rambo IV
Word Count: 1,661 overall

Privacy / Legal Issues

For Gmail users (in case you haven't heard the news yet), a hacking tool has been introduced that automatically steals IDs of non-encrypted sessions and uses them to break into the accounts. The developer is planning to release it in a few days. You can protect your accounts by switching to SSL permanently. If you're unfamiliar with the procedure, [info]blue_rose posted a step-by-step guide and also linked to a patch that would ensure that Gmail Notifier is still working afterwards. I'd like to include two off-site links, an article on HungryHackers.com which explains how Gmail and the hacking tool work, and for Firefox users there's the extension Customize Google, which can also help remove or block unwanted content, including ads and Google Analytics cookies.

[info]skuf wrote a quick tutorial on how to block LJToys from tracking you on LJ/IJ/clones (Firefox only).

[info]spacelogic: How Star Trek Made Me A Feminist, and Why I Don't Think STXI Is Going To Be Worth It: "I remember being freaked out by the first episode, being wary of the next several, and gradually being won over. And at some point during the entire process, I came to a shocking realization: Star Trek was more feminist than a lot of more modern TV/film productions."

[info]the_willow: Watching The Show In Your Head (Pt 2): When You Can't: "I guess I feel like there probably needs to be respect for the fact that when you can't watch anymore, it means there's too much weighed on the side of dislike and disappointment. And those weights can be aspects of racism, sexism, classcism, national isolationism or just not enough plot ..." (talks about "Monk" and SGA as examples)

PhotobucketFor the first time in more than four years, I've added to Nightmare. Not just edited or rewrote portions of it. I'm adding on a whole new scene that's never seen the light of day (or dark of night, as it were). I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get into that mindset again, but apparently, it's like putting on a pair of glasses or a pair of gloves. I think the writing is slightly different (after all, I'm slightly different than I was four years ago), but it still fits within the style of the novel. And I think the new scene (and the scene that follows it) will work well to enhance the plot a bit. And I anticipate another new scene later in the novel.

I only wrote six hundred words. My minimum was five hundred. But it was something, and that's the important thing.

How Many Jayne Hats Can be Knitted at a Single Con?

This is a nifty idea I wish I had thought of. Apparently, you pledge a dollar amount per however many hats get made. The final total determines how much you owe.
