Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, but I am REALLY not feeling well. Having a sort of minor Crohn's flare up. I suspect it's all the fresh veggies I've been eating lately -- they can be hard to digest. But how am I supposed to resist all that crunchy yummy goodness when it comes right out of my land? Or... tables on my porch, anyway. ;)

Anyhow, so I've just kind of been laid up doing mindless things, like playing with my DRAGONS! And hanging around FAcebook -- there's this game called Farmville there that I'm completely addicted to.

Of course, all this down time means that that I've completely lost track of my kink_bingo schedule. I'm STILL hoping maybe I can finish a bingo by the 31st (that's nine stories) -- but so far only 2 are done, a 3rd is at the "climax", so I just can't hold my breath on it getting done. *sigh*

I enjoy Facebook for a number of reasons -- the primary one that I get to interact with old friends and family members who I might lose track of otherwise. The downside is that I sometimes have to interact with people I never would have interacted with otherwise, and every once in a while someone from my past tries to embroil me in drama. Oh, and if I'm not careful, I'm treated to a detailed blow-by-blow of the LOML and his blissful domestic existence. *gag*

OH NO! This just breaks my heart. RIP Little Dusky. He was being hand raised from birth, bottle and tube fed, slept in an oxygen chamber, but it seemed like he was getting better. I've been following the story closely, daily updates, and to hear he finally passed away is just... So, so sad. *hugs kitties* I feel like one of my own died -- I was really rooting for this little fella.

One problem with watching TV on the computer is that when my attention wanders, I have to switch away from the screen and only have audio, which I tend to tune out. When the TV is on, I seem to miss less somehow. I wish I could hook up my laptop to the TV -- wirelessly, of course. But only the video part. Like my computer is my cable box, you know? There has to be technology like that out there, doesn't there?

Damn picky ass dragons! So... As you can see, I have a couple new adults in the pen! The silly, fat pink one is Andy Bellefleur, and the lovely purple one is Pam Ravenscroft (Another female! YAY!) Well, the first thing I did with Pam was try and mate her with Rosey... and you might be able to guess what happened. They "wouldn't go anywhere near each other" WTF, you guys? I want a pretty purple and pink dragon! *sigh* Well, we'll just have to try again next week.

I'm very sad to say this, but I think my involvement in True Blood fandom may not be long for this world. The ship wars are heating up, and I'm sick to fucking DEATH already of "OMG BILL/SOOKEH AND OOH THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED IN REAL LIFE!" And "I'm so glad blah blah blah because I don't like the books/I love the books/I hate the show/I love the show. ERICBILLERICBILLERICBILL." BLARGH.

I did this fucking go round once already, and I'm not doing it again. I honestly could care LESS about Bill or Sookie, actually. If they went away and left the rest of the cast, I'd be perfectly happy. I don't hate the characters, but man am I starting to not like their fans. This whole sensation is so deja vu, I'm thinking about dropping all my True Blood communities before the bs completely ruins the show for me. And there is NOTHING worse than a creator who fucking contradicts himself every other time he talks. Been THERE, done THAT and REALLY not interested in doing it again. I'd prefer what I WANT, not what I NEED when it comes to my entertainment, thanks. Either tell the fucking truth or keep your mouth fucking shut.

I also think I'm going to make a rule at trueblood_squee, if I decide to keep it open: NO SHIPPING. Period. Unless it's Jessica/Hoyt (because who doesn't love Jessica/Hoyt). And no Bill vs. Eric ANYTHING. I'm fucking sick to death of it already, and we're barely just over halfway through the second season. If you love Bill, GREAT, you can say so WITHOUT BASHING ERIC. Love Eric? AWESOME, you can say THAT without dissing Bill. It's fucking annoying, people, and take it from me, IT RIPS FANDOMS APART AND MAKES IT REALLY HARD TO ENJOY THE SOURCE MATERIAL.

Man, I am tired and cranky today. Which is weird because I slept so well and with full CPAP gear for a good 9 hours. Plus, the fam has gone off for a week's vacation...somewhere that is NOT HERE. So now I'm going to get tired and sick? But of course.

Well, I'm finally going to check out Harry Potter tomorrow. I've got a bunch of errands to run later in the afternoon (HELLO new painkiller esp. for that special time of the month!), so I figure if I go to the early matinee, that will leave me plenty of time. It's funny, I heard kind of neutral-positive things about it, but no real squee, so... *shrug* I'm not always a huge fan of the movies as entities unto themselves anyway. I remember especially with GoF, thinking that the story was so holey, so convinced that every viewer had already read the books, that I swear anyone who hadn't would be completely lost.

But it's a tradition for me to see them in the theaters, and with only one more left, I shall continue said tradition with honor! Or... you know, snacks I snuck in.

I'm sort of building my own network of shows I want to catch up on, watching an episode or two every day. Right now, the list includes Star Trek TOS, Dexter, Legend of the Seeker, and Torchwood, among a few others. What I'm looking for here are your favorite anime shows. I know a lot of friends on my FList watch them, and I'm wondering what you recommend. My entire experience with the genre includes Vampire Hunter D and Spirit or... Ghost? The one about the kid who crosses over a bridge into a ghost world, I think. Shit, I can't remember. What else is good?

It's getting toward the end, but I just don't know if I have it in me. So to speak. *G* I don't want to get into the habit of not meeting the every other day deadlines, because I'll never catch up if I do. Plus, I'm doing rewrites on the one I finished yesterday, on which the awesome igrockspock gave me some really helpful notes that will make the story a lot better in the end.

Busy writing today, but of course there are DRAGONS! Look, the new baby grew up! And Guess what? It's ANOTHER BOY! Jeeze, poor Jessica. Well... I need to name the newbie and decide who's going to hit on poor Jess this week!

Okay, guys. It's August 1. I'm looking at my commitments and buckling down for some serious writing.

The big one on my mind right now is kink_bingo -- bingos are due by August 31. I have THIRTY days to finish a bingo. I have a 9 story bingo planned, plus a 5 story double line and a one story postage stamp. That's FIFTEEN kinky stories in thirty days. That means TWO kinky stories a day, minimum 500 words each.

Think I can do it? I mean, I know I can write 500 words a day, but can I write 500 words a day that anyone will want to READ? (You would ask this question too if you saw my NaNo manuscript from last year.)

What I would love to do (after I finish bingos within the alloted time) is do black-outs (all the kinks on the card) for Gaila and B/A. Wouldn't it be fun to see if I could get 25 kinky B/A stories? I'll never have time for it, but a girl can dream.

ANYWAY... FIFTEEN Stories. THIRTY days. That is my challenge. It would, unfortunately, make a very, very boring reality show.

Hahahaha. Speaking of kink_bingo, I downloaded one of the soundtracks they offered, and I'm right now listening to the AWESOME Dr. Hook's "Freaking at the Freaker's Ball". I fucking LOVE this song. So does my dad -- he's a huge Dr. Hook fan. He used to play this song when I was a KID. I mean, I didn't know what it meant, but there I was, 9 years old, singing about masochists and necrophiliacs and smearing someone with butter. LOL. No wonder I'm so weird!

Watching the first episode of The Legend of the Seeker. I've read the first four or five of the books, and I have to say, the series is a LOT easier to follow. LOL. I love the books, but man are they dense and complicated. This show is more like... Wizard's First Rule meets Hercules: The Legendary Journies. I'm okay with that. One thing they have in common? Kahlan is BAD ASS.

Okay, back to work. Gaila and Kirk are waiting. *G*

OMG U GYZ! I'm all addicted to Star Trek TOS and shit. I had no idea it had such a dry, sarcastic sense of humor about itself. I mean, the sexism and racism is icky, but I bet still better than most shows of it's day. Or so I imagine, since there are people of color on there AT ALL, and women in uniform (skimpy though it may be, they're officers), and my knowledge of TV in the 60's is pretty limited to this and Batman.

Well, I mean, they're cute pink dragons with tidy wings and large show tune collections, so you can probably guess what happened. I introduced Pinky and Jessica, and they.... went "meh." And absolutely no Dragon Smexing whatsoever took place. *Sigh* Now I have to wait another day and try with Rosey. Maybe he'll "Show interest" in her?

And OH HOW I MISS HARPY RIGHT NOW!) TO EXPLAIN WHY B/A IS NOT *insert same old generally dismissive and insulting crap about B/A here*.

To Subvert (According to Webster's): 1 : to overturn or overthrow from the foundation : ruin; 2 : to pervert or corrupt by an undermining of morals, allegiance, or faith.

The Free Dictionary (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/subversive) has a more salient definition of Subversive: "subversive: Adjective - intended or intending to weaken or overthrow a government or an institution. Noun - a person engaged in subversive activities."

The thesaurus suggests "revolutionary". So... was B/A meant to destroy some fundamental tropes, as so much of what Whedon does is supposed to do? Does it destroy itself? Is it revolutionary?

I'm being a good girl, and coming back here to cry and hyperventilate and get hugs, and PLEADING for one of the many intelligent B/A Shippers on my FLIST to PLEASE offer a balanced view to that B/A hate fest over there. (They are not being mean about shippers, though, which is a nice change.) I had to leave about two comments in, and may not be able to put together a coherent answer besides "NO! WTF?" And so.

You know what brought me down (or "up," I guess) AGAIN? Star Trek. I'm watching the Original Series for the first time in decades -- including the original pilot, which I've never seen before, and my blood pressure is back down, and I've just kind of... let that annoyance earlier go. Does this speak of the calming power of Star Trek? My continued over-investment in shows that have been off the air for years? Both?

Anyway -- I'm sad in a different way now. #1 in the original pilot was AWESOME. And an officer. And there's actually some surface level touching on sexism. There was an Asian fella in the transporter room! Roddenbury said in the intro that one of the reasons the original pilot was not produced was because it wasn't "cast sensibly" = too many non-whites.

Which leads me to think about IBARW and an essay I read today: Nyota Uhura is Not a White Girl or "now that we've got that clear, and you know that i'm not here..." by rawles. It's excellent food for thought, and a good explanation for why every time I hear someone say the word "post-racial", I want to kick them. (I'm trying to keep my temper down, because I'm dizzy! From the high blood pressure that I totally don't have! Oh, man, I'm having a total breakdown. Or else one of these new meds is making me more batshit than usual.")

Help me Original Trek (even-though-your-flaws-are-glaring-you-were-making-real-inroads-for-your-time)! Help me!

My full time job for the past couple of days has become AVOIDING any and all posts about the Supernatural and True Blood Panels at ComiCon. I do not want to be spoiled for the rest of this season of TB AT ALL, so if you saw it in that video clip, or heard it in the panel, please don't mention it around me or on trueblood_squee without AMPLE warning! Please. *G*

Of course, I'm very generally spoiled about Supernatural (vague season direction, casting, etc. I know there are ( Read more... ) but I don't know the details. With SPN, I don't mind so much getting a little spoiled -- it's the journey that's fun. But with True Blood, baby, I will EAT YOUR FACE if you spoil me. The shocks, twists and turns on this show are half the fun (the other half being my favorite characters, of course. Hi Eric! Hi!).

Ugh. Did I say I was done whining? Because apparently, I'm not. I went to my two doctors' appointments today, and have MORE medication I have to take and MORE tests that have to be run, none of which have anything to do with my current Crohn's issues. It was 80 billion degrees with 500 percent humidity out today, and when I got home, I took my new nasal spray (which seems to really work, btw), and now I am ZOMBIE LIKE. I wanted to get some writing done or SOMETHING, but... I just don't see it happening. I should at least scrawl down some words, I can fill out the flesh tomorrow.

But man, who thought a nasal spray could make you all bablbalbalblalblblbl? (It's Astepro, for anybody who's curious.) I'll spare you more Medical TMI until I have something definite to share.

Now that they're all grown up, I want to consider mating. The only female is Jessica, the first red. Should I mate her with one of the pink guys, or Swirly, the green guy, or her own kind, sLutty JimmyT?

Seriously, I could go on and on and on forever without ever including a Twilight vampire. The father Cullen is kind of cute, but... the fact that nobody in that town ever notices how FREAKING WHITE he is just... throws me out of the fantasy. Oh, and I could make a top ten list of Sherrilyn Kenyon vampires alone, even though they're not really "vampires" per se (but they totally are).

I am SO happy! I was laboring and laboring and TORTURING myself trying to get my Kris Allen/Alan Lambert RPF done for today, which originally was supposed to be the last day to post. The story has stalled about 1/3 of the way through, and I'm working through the mess, but I need at least a couple more days. Well, I just went to go beg for forgiveness, when I discovered that the new posting deadline is JULY 31! W00t!

Oh boy, I hope this excellent day does not count against my two doctors' appointments tomorrow. *sigh*
